I'm switching from Ortho-Cyclen to Yasmin. I started the Yasmin the day after finishing my last ortho pill. I'm seeing conflicting information regarding the necessity of using condoms or some other form of back-up protection during my first cycle. My doctor didn't warn me to use protection, and niether did my pharmacist until I asked. Then I found some info stating that back-up isn't necessary. How likely is it that I'll become pregnant this month simply because I'm using a different pill?

if you are switching mid-cycle you would need protection. If you are switching after the end of the packet (and the placebo pills that finish them up) then you wouldn't need to use back-up
