Well was just wondering if I was the only person who felt that the "Dixie Chicks were on Oprah" to help their cause for their documentary about their comments that Natalie made about the President in England? I am not against free speech, if I was I wouldn't be on here right? I was one of the "Dixie Chicks" biggest fans, but when Natalie opened her mouth on foreign soil and run down the President, it ruined it for me against them. I believe that since we had just experienced the most horrific tragedy of man kind on our own soil, that no-matter what or how you feel, you should never show or say things about your President when the nation should all be united together against such a terrible thing, How do you feel about it? No, what she said, didn't warrant a death threat, the country hurt them bad enough with not buying their music, and boycotting their concerts., so how do you feel. Are you feeling about Natalie's comment like me?, "" Stupid is as Stupid Does""????

Natalie slit the throat of the The Dixie Chicks by opening her trap. The other poster was right - KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE. Ever see the parking lot of a Dixie Chicks concert (pre-Natalie i'm going to tank our careers with my big mouth). Pick up trucks and American flags galore. She doesn't understand or is offended by all the outward shows of patriotism? MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY!!!

Anyone has the right to criticize Bush, it's just that the little country-pop girls come out and criticize him and people are disgusted because people think the Dixie Chicks are dumb. Now i have no idea whether the Dixie Chicks are dumb or not, but that kind of turns me off when they criticize Bush. If Oprah or Gates said that, I might think of them in a different way, too. Maybe not as much as the Dixie Chicks because they seem to be more educated people with educated opinions. I think a lot of America would think that same thing. (Hey, that just goes to show Bush has more supporters than we know!)

I agree with you whole-heartedly. But one thing you have to realize, yet most don't, is that what applies with Reps must apply with Dems. As much as my president does indeed suck, he is still president for two years and I must respect him as such. Admitting you hate your Pres on foreign soil is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard of someone doing!

Meh, They are back peddleing hard core right now. Many radio stations have banned their music and they had to cancel their tour due to low ticket sales.

They are just trying to recover from her comments. i didnt watch Oprah because I was at work, but I can onyl imagine what they were saying.

I have about as much respect for the Dixie Chicks as I have for Dog $hit, and I have to wonder if that is too much. I'm a country music fan, too.

Like you said , "Stupid is as Stupid Does"... Yes she has her right for free speech but as an artist she should know her audience and quite a few country folk are very patriotic and even if they don't like the President they do respect the office of President.

I totally disagree. Us being attacked does not give the president the right to do things that are wrong. And if we let him, just because we were attacked and need to support our president, then we're as guilty of the wrongdoing as he is. As G. K. Chesterton said, "Saying, 'My country, right or wrong' is like is like saying, 'My mother, drunk or sober.'"

I'm not saying (right here, anyway) that he WAS wrong. But if you disagree with the direction he's taking the country it is not only your right, but your responsibility as an American, to speak up.

As for the comment she made, which i think was something like, "We're ashamed the president is from Texas," it's just a pointless and stupid comment. It's not constructive, it's just a personal attack. If she had an issue with the way he was handling things, OK. But that comment has no place in any intelligent dialogue.

I nevered listened to them before the controversy, but good for her for speaking her mind. She was prophetic and now 70% of the country agrees with her.

Big effing deal about them! Natalie should be working at Lane Bryant in Nashville and the twins should kick her a$$ for ruining their careers as well. I used to like that song about Earl had to die but she should have kept her piehole shut. Doesn't she realize that the Nashville scene is mainly made up of Conservatives who helped G.W.'s campaign.

I bet you don't watch movies or t.v. also. Them Holly weird types say worse things than Natalie did. I don't like what Natalie said also but dang, those three girls just rock. Those two sisters have more talent in their little pinkie finger than most entertainers put together. I will continue to listen to them.
