What's the reason why they made you break up with him? After a whole year, I would think that they've met him and stuff, so what did he mess up? You came home late? You were drinking with him? He hangs out with "bad people?"
Figure out what the problem is and address that. I doubt that after dating a reasonably sane and nice guy for a year, they'd just come out of the blue with this.

If you love him you have to sneak around but don't be rude to your parents they mean no harm. You only live once.

tell them to just goooo away seriously!! they have no right to control your life and if they didnt like him why didnt they say something sooner rather than leaving you to get attached to him after a year.. its up to you they cant make your decisions for you or youll never be able to be independant and make your own decisions!

we need more details to answer this question. what were the reasons involved in the situation, was he older than you, was he abusive, is a bad influence etc etc......
