Well, just because that one egg becomes fertilized, it doesn't mean that they will implant in the Uteran wall. Having more that one egg will increase the odds of fertilization as well as implantation. This increases the fitness for both donors to carry on their genes.

Well, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense just to get one. And being that they are so tiny it's probably next to impossible to get just one. And, it does increase the likelihood of pregnancy to implant more than one.
