i read a book when i was in school and it was about a troop or men in the army during the war (im not sure which one but i think it was possible WW1 or 2) i dont really remember much about the book but i know it was good, i have been racking my brains trying to remember what it was called. it was a fairly short book and i have a frrling it was actully a script rather then a novel type book. can anyone help me?

Nothing new in the west? Is the book you look for from Erich Maria Remarque? He wrote down his experience from the first WW and how he went in, full of hope and how this hope turned into hopelessness and desparation about the ignorance of war.
Its a fairly short story too, so this might be it.

You'll have to give more details. If it was a play, was it Sergeant Musgrave's Dance? It's about a group of soldiers who arrive in a coalmining town, ostensibly to recruit for the army.
