Will anything climatic occur..like the skin finally falling off, or will it just continue to soak in, and why does it continue to soak in?

I don't think it would fall off it would probabily just wrinkle alot.

The hand will continue to soak in and all that will happen is taht you will get a very wrinkled hand. It will continue to sink in because the water can't really penetrate the skin too much. Now, if it's soaked for days and weeks, then maybe the skin would start peeling or something like that.

be more specific, is the hand attached to a live body? if so, it will get clean and shrivel, if not, then after some hours the skin will fall off. and what kind of water? a lake? then you have creatures that will eat at it, depending on the other two options.

it will soak in until it takes enough water then it will wrinkle up or contract so it can't take any more water.
