This organization says that none of its positions can be mentioned in political mailings for candidates.

WTF??!!

They have the authority to suspend First Amendment rights?

What are they thinking? I have no clue how they expect to get away with this.

The Republicans are ignoring them. What can AARP do about it?

WellTrave... But all that is in the public domain. As long as credit is given, than anyone can quote them. The newspapers do it all the time. And if it is legal, than it should not be. First Amendment rights trump all.

The AARP is NOTHING but an Insurance Company.
They don't speak for Senior Citizens; they only speak for themselves.
AARP is concerned only by their PROFITS.
They are a socialist hypocrite group.

They can charge them with copyright violation if they quote them exactly, and with defamation if they mis-quote them.

You shouldn't get all bothered, this is standard practice for both non-profit organizations and corporations. Basically, anything they've published, even their positions on issues, are copyrighted speech and can't be quoted by anyone else without permission. It's not just AARP, it's nearly every organization. And it's perfectly legal. It prevents anyone (republican, democrat, whatever) from mis-representing their positions on issues.

The AARP is more powerful than the gun lobby, and that's about as powerful as it gets. They have their own magazine(AARP magazine) and favor anything that is helpful to seniors, especially when it comes to healthcare costs and medications.

I have no idea of what you are talking about. I've seen one of
their magazines - in it, they list the issues & at the bottom,
they give a check mark if they support or don't support an issue.
It was interesting.

I can't believe it, any organization to help people you people hate.
Radical Republicans hate the AARP and they can't help old people? So they are anti-American. You people need to chill out.
