No! It's just abusing the system and getting a little bit of twisted satisfaction in the knowledge that people may be scrambling over one another in an effort to be the first one's to get ten measly points! If you ask me the whole point of this medium is to share worthwhile knowledge not to disseminate it to the stage where it becomes monotonous by meandering from it's true purpose!

Depends on the question.
Usually it should go to the most detailed, most informative answer, but some questions that are just surveys (which do you prefer, etc...) can't really be determined by that, so I would say give it to the first answerer on those questions.

I actually don't agree with that. The way your doing it seems more like personal amusement. Do you know what I mean??
I don't answer questions to get "BEST ANSWER"
I answer questions because if I feel I can actually help someone and so it can't hurt to give my opinion.
And I don't get upset if I don't get "BEST ANSWER". If I can help then good, If I couldn't well, it's not like it killed them to read my suggestion, right?
