I'm not sure what you're looking for when you ask "what's with him". He's a country music singer who was known for irreverent songs like "They Ain't Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore", a mystery novelist, and a columnist for Texas Monthly magazine. He's running as an independent for Governor of Texas this year, apparently because he thinks both major parties are corrupt.

He's the new "Ross Perot". Whenever voters get sick of both parties, they look for some gadfly to elect to teach the politicians a lesson. In Italy they elected a porn star to Parlament for the same reason. I think it's effective.

He is just running for governer of texas! He is a country legend too (sorta like willie nelson)

He's intelligent and doesn't have a big ego, so he can't be compared to Jesse Ventura, who is stupid and wanted to have everything his own way or would refuse to do anything.
