I have this problem in 2 different cars - a Ford KA and a Peugout 206. In the KA (2004), the drivers floor mat gets soaked after heavy rain. No windows are left open, there is no moisture on the dash or the seats, nor on the door anywhere. But the mat gets soaked. I've layed paper over it to see if it's dripping from under the steering column somewhere, but the paper is dry, and I can't feel any wetness under there. The windscreen fluid is definatly not leaking, or i'd have to refill it every few days, which I don't have to... There is no hole beneath the car for the water to get in through either. The seals on the windows seem fine and there's water in no other place...

Onto the Peugout (1996). The same thing happens to the rear passenger mat. Nowhere else in the car is wet apart from here. It's been in the garage and they suggested the seal on the boot was dodgy, but it's not; if it was then the shelf and seat would be wet.

Anyone have any idea where this water's coming from?

I noticed also in the KA that the windscreen gets wet inside in the mornings, so the seal there is looking like the suspect.

What sort of cost will there be in fixing this?

The sunroof drain is the glaring first place to look even though it is achievable that they have got been incorrect or water is stepping into from greater suitable than one place. Take a backyard hose and turn it on low and characteristic a chum carry the hose on diverse areas of the outdoors of the vehicle. Get interior the vehicle and seem for water dripping in. you would be able to could desire to get rid of a few trim products or roll back the carpeting yet shop looking till you will see that water easily dripping in someplace. hint the leak back to the source. Pay particular interest to the sunroof, the grilles on the backside of the windshield, antenna strains, and any areas the place the tops of the doorways are no longer tight against the vehicle physique. in case you won't be able to discover any leak then the subject must be with the drain for the air conditioner evaporator. The evaporator is contained in the dashboard on the area of the vehicle opposite the guidance wheel. while air is blown throughout the time of it to relax it (for aircon) or dry it (windshield de-fogger) water condenses on it and drips off. If the evaporator drain is clogged (and that they do clog on Camrys) it is going to overflow onto the section the place the passenger's feet go. Having water generally on the area of the vehicle the place the front passenger sits is a classic sign of a plugged evaporator drain. you are able to attempt this with the help of putting newspaper below the glove container (yet up off the floor) and working the A/C for a on a similar time as. If the paper gets moist it is coming from the A/C evaporator. in case you are able to hit upon the tube below the vehicle and blow air via it with an air hose it may loose-up and a gallon or 2 of water will come pouring out. subject mounted. Suck-up what's left contained in the motor vehicle with a vacuum.

On the KA, either a windshield seal, door seal or vent seal is leaking. One way to see what is leaking is to lay in car and have someone spray water over windshield/door area. Hopefully you will be able to see something.

Same goes with the Peugout. That is what the dealership/garage shops will do.

It's coming from the windshield, most likely. It will come in from the windshield and roll down the firewall inside the car. It may also be coming from the chassis where the firewall meets the side panel of the car. You could probably look up toward the corner or the dashboard from the floor. You might see sunlight from there. Good luck.

I'm not familiar with KA, but it may be coming in through the air intake in front of the windscreen and running down inside the kick panel by the driver's feet.

Since it happening after it rains then it'll be your windshield. Had the same problem til i decided to use a hose and spray water around the windshiled and behold the problem was solved. Have some1 sit inside the car listen and feel around for the water while you or some1 else uses a garden hose and spray water around the edge of the windshield.

Drive through a dozen car washes and the problem may show itself.
Most likely you have a bad seal around the windshield in the Ford.

The Peugout haven't a clue....

I would definitely suspect the heater core. If water is going under the heat shield under the front carpet, that would explain why only the back carper is wet.

on your ford sounds like your heater core may be leaking , have you checked your radiator too see if it is full , the peugout i really cant think of anything , unless the engine is in the back , if so then maybe same thing ,
