I am 18 years old, I weigh around 125, and I have a bad diet but am not willing to budge on that. I have tried before with even a nutrisionist, I'm simply just too picky about food. I eat mainly chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, and things children would eat. I don't eat any vegetables and rarely any fruit. I do not eat fish either.

I am currently taking these supplements: "AIM" Barleylife at 4 capsules 2 times daily, "Pure encapsulations" Calcium Magnesium Citrate at 3 capsules a day, "Pure Encapsulations" EPA/DHA essentials at 2 capsules a day, and "Pure Encapsulations" Probiotic–5 at 1 capsule daily, "

There are the sites my supplements are from if you need to look them up

My questions are:

1) Concerning all of my current supplements, am I on what I should be?

2) Do I need a multi-vitamin or is the barley life sufficient?

2) Is there anything else I should be taking for my general health and the issues I discussed?

Hi Jessica. I have a couple of suggestions for you.

1) A quality multi-vitamin/mineral supplement is definitely appropriate for you. Pure encasulations "Nutrient 950" would be a good choice. If you add this supplement to your routine, you can reduce the Calcium/Magnesium Citrate to 2 capsules per day because you will be getting some of these minerals in the multi.

2) I know you don't want to hear this one, but here goes. Supplements are just that - "Supplements". They supplement a good diet, but DO NOT replace a bad diet. Adding just a couple of fruits and vegetables a day and one or two glasses of 'real' fruit juice will make a significant difference in your health and quality of life. You probably don't like the taste of fruits and vegetables because they cannot 'compete' with all the fats, sugars and salt 'flavors' in the standard American diet of junk food and fast food. However, if you will make a commitment to yourself (you are the one who will benefit!) to add just one fruit and one vegetable each day to your meals for the next 30 days, you will 'learn' to like these foods and enjoy eating them! Start with an apple, a pear, a peach, a banana each day. Add a raw carrot, or celery with peanut butter or cream cheese. Have a nice salad with your favorite dressing, grate on some carrots, add some olives or raisons, maybe some almonds. Be creative and have FUN with your salad creations.

Best wishes and good luck.

Well, to tell you the truth. People live in the pill era, there is no other way of saying that. Today there is a pill for everything. You must remember that no matter what kind of pill it is or how natural it is, it can still harm you or even kill you. Do you understand what I am saying. Its good that you eat chicken, but try limiting things to only once or twice a week. Chicken is very good for you, but not fried. The supplements you are taking are not what you need at all. If I were you, I would stop taking them. they can do some damage to your liver and your kidneys. Too much of certain supplements can cause colon cancer and others as well. If you must take a vitamin...I recommend taking centrum. It is one a day and all you need. No more than that. If you do not like fish, then try skinless boneless grilled chicken breasts with your mac and cheese. Try making some vegetables that you do like. Water is very important to your health. Breakfast cereals in the morning are great. Baked potatos are also perfect with chicken breast meat. Steak is good source of protein served with a baked potato. See...perfect portions. Do not dring more that one soda a day. If has many harmul effects. Look...you can choose to listen or run the risk of liver disease and hypertension...and then heart attack. You make the call.
