Musical: "The Producers" by Mel Brooks, at the St. James Theater, Broadway -- I had a spare night on a recent business trip to New York, so I splurged and bought a front-row ticket. Most enjoyable night I've ever spent in the theater (well, on the side of the proscenium with seats, at least :-)
Drama: "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" I had the opportunity to see this twice in one year by different theater groups not long ago -- the Oregon Shakespeare Festival did an EXCELLENT version in Ashland, and then a few months later Portland Center Stage performed it. If you've never seen it... well, there's a very special feeling that you get the first time you see it, as the wicked humor of the first act turns into the cold, growing dread that propels the second act to its horrifying conclusion. PCS did that slightly better than OSF, but not much. Wish I'd had the chance to see David Suchet and Diana Rigg play that on Broadway a few years back.

My favorite musicals are: Sweeney Todd, Cats, Chicago and Phantom of the Opera. My Favorite plays are Blood Brothers, A view from the Bridge and Accidental Death of An Anarchist. I also love the plays by Shakespeare. So if you're looking for something new then i encourage you to consider Shakespeare. And btw, the best chicago song is jail cell tango!

Hmm... this is REALLY hard... but I have to go with Into the Woods- The first musical I ever was introduced to (at age 2, my mom played the Bakers Wife in a community theatre production.) I would not be where I am today (doing community theatre shows) if it wasnt for it. It has such a powerful music without getting mushy or about love. I also love Avenue Q and RENT- both real life musicals and Avenue Q is absolutely hilarious!

Oklahoma! I think it is an amazing story about farmers and cowmen. It has lots of romance and humor, and it was the first Rodger and Hammerstein collaboration.
I have always loved this musical so much, and now I have the honor to play Laurey in Oklahoma! I am thrilled.
