No it isn't unless you don't leave your hotel complex..
Hugo Chavez or no Hugo Chavez, it is a beautiful country, but there is a great lack of security.
I've a friend who lives there, she carries a good sized gun in her car, and has had to pull it out more than once....
Go someplace safer!

I am from Venezuela, and honestly... I wouldn't recommend it.
There are a lot of things he's doing that I am never going to be okay with, and I don't support him for it. BUT! I am not saying anything against the country I come from. It is still beautiful, and a great place to visit, but like any other country with a questionable officeholder, use your own judgement.

Sure. Just travel in a group, and if Chavez comes after you, split up and run as fast as you can. He can't get all of you!

well i'm from there and i really don't recommend you to go!!!it's a beautiful country,expectacular beaches and it's like the best country you will ever visited!!!don't worry about our president!!!if you really want to go feel free but there's one thing...think about the danger.
