Yes, some, but not forever. Part of the cost of gasoline is based on demand and the available supply coming from our oil refineries.

But a lot of the cost of gasoline comes from OPEC, which can decide to produce more or less oil, affecting prices. And while the US is a big user of oil, it's not the only place, and other countries (like China) are using more and more. Global demand for oil, even if the US were to stop buying gasoline, could still affect prices.

If someone thinks up a better way to power up cars, that would definitely crash gas prices. But the beauty of the system is in the fact that you really can not stop buying gas for any prolonged period `cause you'll be unemployed soon due to the failure to show up in your job! So the absolute maximum payable price of gas is always 20 cents above the new top... LOL...

Yes, the price of gasoline is based on supply and demand. Good luck getting people to not buy gas :)

yes. That's basic Economic theory. Demand and supply always has a floating equilibrium and both influence each other directly.

If I had one porno mag and there were 50 guys who wanted to buy it I would set a high price as they know it's the only mag available and there's a lot of competition.

If though, I only had one mag and there were 50 non-porno loving girls I would be forced to set a very low price as there would be a low demand (perhaps one is a lesbian or wants to buy it as a present for her boyfriend)

Of course, it's called supply and demand, if no one wants it then the price will fall. But that will never happen since we can not live without our gas guzzling motor vehicles.

You'd think so but those Bubba's of the oil industry would find someway to keep their profits rolling in! If it takes going to war (Irag or w/e else) or w/e else they have to do! It would take a marketing genious to get everybody in america to stop buying gas! Nobody has EVER gotten ALL americans to do anything!!!

If ....

Of course, if people did not buy gasoline, their cars would also not run. So guess what they'll do!

Companies would go bankrupt and the few that were left would raise their prices.
