check fluid level. smell fluid, if its real dark and smells burnt TRANNY. if it's red and doesn't smell modulator vacumn line down shift cable?

Tranny. I have gotten a lot more miles from trannies like that with a good flush and a can of conditioner. Some transmissions actually still have band adjustments that can cause rough shifting.

check fld. first, on that tranny, check for the nylon grommet at the thottle link hook-up and at tranny kick down on tranny it's self. if grommet is broken or missing, this will cause a jerk shift. also need to check the trans range sensor for proper operation or miss alignment.

First check your tranny for flued,it will jerk if it is low.If that doesn't help,most likely your tranny is saying bye bye.

if the fluid doesn't smell burnt you may have a bad vacuum modulator or vac. line to it, also linkage issues, sometimes a flush will work, other times not. some fords can have their bands adjusted . good luck

if it's a shifting problem, yeah, it's the transmission. I just had to replace it in a '95 continental. Stupid automatic transmissions.
