I've never experienced it myself, but it can happen. I think you might have an old CD burner.

If you talking about wearing one out then, yes I have damaged 3 over 2 yrs. It took over 3000 disk to burn them up..Thanks

yes, generally how I notice it is you will start to hear static on your burnt discs, and the drive will start to be finicky when reading Cd's. Then when it completely goes out it just stops working.
