As for your formula, it just might differ in how much iron is in it, or how much it prevents against tooth decay (or bacteria in your baby's mouth). I don't know if it'll harm them or not. You should probably consult with your pediatrician about that!

First, call the doctor just to tell him/her your mistake. Next, switch formulas to the correct Similac for his age. Probably just regular Similar Advance. There shouldn't be any problem yet. But do check with his doctor.

You should never put rice cereal in his bottle unless his doctor advises you to for medical reasons. He is too young yet. You shouldn't start solids (grain cereals and stage 1 foods) until at least 4 or 6 months. Your baby's stomach and immune system is not ready before then. And the sooner you introduce new foods, the more likely he is to develop food allergies. Always check with your doctor, but those are the usual guidelines.

Here's a good website to help.

Contact your doctor about the formula and start your baby on the right kind of formula. You can usually start feeding your baby solids around 4-6 months of age with the doctors ok first. Unless your doctor okays it first don't give the baby rice in there bottle.

i mistakenly bough similac 2 once myself ,but noticed before giving it to my baby it just has alot more of the nutrient that the original one has it should be no big deal my pediatrician said to mix it 1/2 sim.2 and 1/2 reg. similac (.because i had a big $25 and couldnt return it and i needed the formula) which break it down however she said giving it to her as is may constipate her , hive her bad gas ...by now you'd know if it was hurting the baby.

He should not have cereal or any other solid foods until around 6 mos of age, per the AAP. Starting early will put him at risk for allergies, diabetes and obesity.

The formula you've been using probably doesn't have enough nutrients for a baby his age or different amount of calories or something would be my guess. In any case, go buy the right stuff. Or better yet.....relactate! ;-)

i would contact you doctor about the formula and stop using it. since its for older babies it might have milk protiens that arent broke down as good as 0-9 month formula. i think they told me to start the rice cereal at 3 months and solids at 4 months

If you insist on formula feeding, advice from your doctor about which brand to use is important. Perhaps you should think of relactating? If you decide to continue formula-feeding, contact your doctor and ask him what formula he recommends for your baby. Further, babies should not receive additives in their food until 6 months.

ask your baby's pediatrician about Enfacare, it gives your baby all the nutrients he/she needs. your baby shouldn't have baby cereal until he/she reaches around 6 months of age. just talk to your pediatrician if your worried about the formula your child is using but Enfacare worked really well with second child, my first had Enfamil with Iron, which was good also. have your pediatrician choose the right one for him/her.
