Pretty much sums it up.
Just another sub-culture.
Enjoy

..The goth subculture is a contemporary subculture prevalent in many countries. It began in the United Kingdom during the late 1970s to early 1980s in the gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the post-punk genre. The goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era. Its imagery and cultural proclivities indicate influences from nineteenth century Gothic literature, mainly through horror movies.

The goth subculture has associated gothic tastes in music and fashion. Gothic music encompasses a number of different styles. Common to all is a tendency towards a “dark” sound and outlook. Styles of dress within the subculture range from death rock, punk, androgynous, some Renaissance and Victorian style clothes, or combinations of the above, most often with black attire, makeup and hair

I'm Kelly...nice to meet you. My definition for Gothic is someone who is into the darker side or more morbid side of life. I really do not know enough about them to really judge what they are like to be around. Some of the looks they have are kind of cool and then there are those who are just way out there and a touch scary. But even those I would talk to before I made a judgement. So tell me about them and what it means to you.

mischa m,
Okay, I've never been Goth, and these truly are my own words, so don't flame me. Love me. lol
A Goth is a person that typically has black or blacked hair, red lipstick, piercings, eye shadow that appears to show a state of mind that may be considered depressing, sometimes eye lenses that give some sort of unnatural look to their visage, dark or red clothing. The shoes can be boots of certain types, typically also black.

What I think about them. They are confused and just going through a phase, just like most younger people. Sometimes they only dress like all that for an occaision, and are perhaps better off mentally.

When I see a Goth, I figure that they just haven't made the transition from adolescent to adult yet.

They are not to be confused with EMO.

Seems to me gothic on the outside is pretty much black....hair, clothes, makeup, shoes....chains, goofey jewelry. But more importantly why would anyone want to stand out in a crowd and look like some scarecrow and think it is attractive? Never did understand that......wish you could enlighten us on the inner thoughts and workings of a "gothic person".

Gothic is a stereotype that I hate. I have been called gothic before, and there is a difference between goth and punk. All the 'goths' I have known are actually very nice.

Goths are people who find beauty in the darker things in life.It is not always outgrown as some on here have said.I had a teacher once when I was a kid who really l;iked the goth style. She always had her hair dyed black and had black clothes on.Some people even do their homes in the goth theme.I think it is just a way to express ones self.

I agree with BoardingJ...teen subculture. Teen lable. Um, you don't exactly see a bunch of middle aged Goths hanging around. And, of course, there are the numerous Fortune 500 companies run by Goths, not to mention the Goth politicians..........
