I believe it shows Israel has absolutely no respect for any other country (except their chums the US) - either institutionally or individuals acting outside or bending their orders (for which they are not punished). Israel regularly attacks international organisations (members of the press, red cross/crescent and UN) for which they rarely even admit to, and show complete arrogance and complacency when it is proven beyond doubt.

Take for example the UN base that was shelled during the Lebanon conflict - the commanding officer informed the Israelis SEVERAL (I forget the exact number, but it was more than 3) times that they were a UN base, still Israel continued to shoot in their direction, eventually destroying it. Israel wants to show they are top dog in the region by using wild west techniques - shoot over their heads just in case they get stupid ideas, like doing the job of peacekeeping in Lebanon - instead of letting Israel do whatever the hell it likes.

Israel continues to show absolute arrogance to what the international community says about their affairs - the war in Lebanon, their treatment of Palestinians, the building of the West Bank wall - all of which are illegal under international law. Yet nobody does anything about them acting like a rogue state, because they're the US' only dependable friend in the middle east.

Israel, Germany at odds over Lebanon air incident

Israel denied a German newspaper report that two of its Air Force planes had fired twice as they flew over a German navy vessel patrolling the Lebanon coast.

However, Germany's Defence Ministry said an incident had occurred, without giving details.

The German daily Der Tagesspiegel

The jets also activated infra-red countermeasures to ward off any rocket attack, the paper quoted him as saying, in an advance release from Thursday's edition.

"There was no such incident," an Israeli military spokeswoman said.

Germany assumed command of a United Nations naval force off Lebanon 10 days ago, and has sent eight ships and 1,000 service personnel to join the international peace operation in the region.

The naval force is charged with preventing weapons smuggling and helping maintain a cease-fire between Israel and the Lebanese Islamic militant group Hezbollah.

"I can confirm that there was an incident," a German defence ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

He declined to give further details because an investigation was under way.

Israel's Channel Two television, quoting military sources, described one undated incident where jets had been scrambled when a helicopter took off from a German aircraft carrier close to Israeli waters without identifying itself.

The planes realised the mistake, did not engage the helicopter and returned home, Channel Two said.

In another incident described by the television station, jets deployed anti-missile chaff off the Lebanese coast.

This may have been detected by the German navy, Channel Two said.

Fancy Jews shooting at germans, historically it has tended to be the other way around.
In any case when so many Muslims are determined to wipe Israel and Israelies from the map, one can hardly accuse Israelies of arrgance in wishing to remain alive.

get used to it. there are friendly fire accidents all the time. Usually the scale is far smaller and only a few men are ever killed. Most of the time it's hushed up. I have seen two incidents in my military career. I can tell you no more on them, sorry.
