Why don't people realize whites are most discriminated today?

And no my ancestors did not have it good. They were discriminated against as immigrants. Italians have had it bad. We had it bad when we first came to america and we have it bad now we are considered white and people are bad to us. White men are most discriminated against on TV radio and news. Always being made fun of

You are spot on, why is it we have to make allowances for other people rights feelings and beliefs and no one gives a jot about being a single white male.

That means being a single white male is some sort of gift to celebrate. Well my bank account does have deposits put in it because im white single or male.

My feelings get hurt like anybody else and im sick of it. The sooner our freedom of speech is taken away by minorites moaning about their rights then we can all be in the same boat.

One word out of place from any non single male white and I will take them to the highest court for offending me!

Anyone can face discrimination and some have argued that there is now more discrimination based on class (that is, poor people are discriminated against regardless of race) than any other factor. However, generally in American culture, whites are the majority group...that is, the group with the most political and economic power. Because of that, whites are not considered a minority and thus cannot technically be discriminated against in some people's view. Of course, that is not to say that a specific white person can not be treated unfairly, just that generally in the U.S., white people have a greater role in politics (look at who is President, how many white males are in Congress, etc) and greater economic power (i.e., over 90% of top coporation CEOs are white males). Also, there is not as much obvious maltreatment of whites as other races...especially in what type of service people receive (i.e., taxis stopping to pick you up, whether or not clerks watch you suspiciously, etc). As far as mass media treatment of whites, if you look at how other groups are portrayed, whites are still "let off the hook" more than any other group. Generally, however, the media over-simplifies any group into its lowest denominator...in other words, often take the worst examples of a group and stereotype the entire group as such (with whites being no exception). I am white and have seen that other groups are often treated much more negatively than "most" white people are...but as I already said, that does not mean that some individuals are not treated unfairly.

White men are the most discriminated against on TV and radio? Even though they own 95+% of all TV and radio stations? They must have a complex or something to discriminate against themselves like that. White males still control the overwhelming majority of powerful and influential positions in America and are more likely to report being happy than any other group. Go figure. Imagine how they'd be doing if they weren't the objects of such terrible discrimination.

White males are by far the most advantaged of any group in this society. By a huge margin. Maybe you're just having a bad day? Stop complaining and come down from the cross already!

Dude, get over it! My daddy's mother was a little bitty girl when her mama and daddy came here from Italy. This is the land of opportunity! You can do anything you put your mind to, if you want it bad enough. Besides, us white people are just getting balanced out in this country. For over 400 years, whites killed the native Americans so we could steal their land until there WERE no more free native Americans. We cried 'free country', equality for all, etc. - killing the natives the whole time we talked of freedom, then started enslaving Africans by the thousands, all the while still crying freedom and liberty for all! Ever saw the movie 'Amistad'? True story, buddy - did anyone throw our ancestors overboard, weighted down with rocks to make sure there was enough food for the journey? I think not. My point here is that we Italians were treated no worse than anyone else. And it's tough for most everyone to make it today, unless you work harder than anyone else to make your dreams come true.

If you are Italian, then you are not white. I realize the discrimination that you and especially your immigrant family have had to go through. I am Puerto Rican and I think that we have had it worse than any other immigrant group going to the US. Its something that you just have to deal with, because people think that discrimination doesnt exist in the US, but it still does.

Discrimination? I wouldnt call it that...I would call it just poking fun at ya. That is FAR from discrimination. If you really want to know what discrimination is look at old footage of peceful protest done by civil rights activists getting blasted with fire hoses. Or Japanese Americans during WW2 getting taken out of their homes and getting put in internment camps. Now THAT'S discrimination!

I know what you are talking about. What many of the other groups have done is reacted like someone yelled, "FIRE" in a crowded theatre. That was the way they got their way. But it is not uncommon to notice that respect by those same groups is not on their agenda. Rather, they do as much to stir the pot as they can.

I have little respect for those that do that. But now here the point; It's saying more about them and what they will do with freedom, than any white man. Just stay cool. They are only making things worse for themselves.

I have never seen a white person go to jail for sitting at the front of bus. I have never seen a white person get not served in a resturaunt. I have never seen a white have use a water fountain in a alley way. SO PLEASE TELL ME HOW WHITE PEOPLE GET DISCRIMINATED AGAINST?
