Looking at the fate of Icarus, and skin cancer, there are some points for being afraid. But the sun gives so much. I'd be afraid of the sun if I thought that I'd ever get too close.

If this is a philosophical question then let me give a philosophical answer. No I am not afraid of Sun. The reason is that we, the Hindus, consider Sun as Father and Nature as our mother.So what is the reason behind fearing our parents. We respect the Sun and worship it for providing life to us. It is a ritual, most of the Hindus include in their prayer, to first offer Aardhy to Sun and this way we show our respect and gratitude to the Sun.
