You can run high end games now, and for a year or so. Remember that the new games will be DirectX10 games, and all cards now will not support DirectX10. The games will came with DX9 patches for the first few years, but if you are a serious gamer, I would recommend waiting for the new DX10 cards, they will be here in a few weeks. Later? no because of the new Direct-x 10 that cards now-a-days do not support because the code isn't out yet.

I'd wait a while if i were you, but for right now that's a good video card to run high-end games.
