That generally what is presented in books, magazines and tabloids concerning 'dates of birth' can really be applicable to a wide-audience? I may be persuaded to say that people share common characteristics, but because of their date of birth? Im inclined to believe not.

I'm an aquarian and like all aquarians, we don't believe in horoscopes.

Here's the thing, astrology is valuable tool, but those horoscopes usually are just guesses, and are almsot never correct. Read a book by someone who is in the know. Talk to a real astrologer. don't read the tabloids, their info on astrology is as reliable as their info on the lives of movie stars. (It's not that movies stars don't have lives, or that astrology isnt valid, but in a tabloid, these are both pure crap ).

There have been scientific studies into this (really!). They found a very weak correlation, caused by people knowing what their star sign traits are "supposed" to be, and then acting them out. So, horoscopes don't predict, they dictate.

No doubt some wet person here will pull out the "OMG we're made of water, think of the tides!!111" argument. This can be disproven with simple maths - no planet has a greater gravitational effect on a person than a bus does by driving past as they walk down the street. So, if you want to rule your life by some temporal dictation, try a bus timetable.

no not really , we can share similaritys due to sun signs. but someone's chart is like an astrological blue print of there personality (even people with the same date and year .. but with different times can be completly different people due to the position of the houses).

alot of the time people who do the general horosocopes "dumb it down" alot for the masses. because not everyone knows there moon sign, there ascendent or mercury sign... not to mention what houses their planets are in.

i would suggest getting a full reading done at http://www.astro.com its free and u might actually see there is alot astrology can tell, if you care to go beyond the sun signs.

personally, I believe horoscopes are just entertainment. ALTHOUGH, I believe in 'signs.' many people ARE their signs. I have a theory, and mind you, just a theory. but, the moon has effect on the tides. while we are in the womb, we are in a body of water, amniotic fluid. during the months of pregnancy, the moon pushes and pulls on the fluid. being suspended in water, someway or another, the moon may in some way, interact with development of our personality. like I said, just a theory. but, a cancer tends to be a cancer, a pisces a pisces, and im a virgo through and through!

Peace.

Believe me, the so called astrologers have a book with the forecasts in it and that's what they print.
If you don't believe me just follow them and you'll see they are recycled and used by several, the worst in the UK is Russell Grant a failed actor.
Some start their forecast with a complex load of nonsense, give up on them, what they print will of course come true for somebody but how can it be true for everybody. We'd all win the lottery every week.

I am not sure of what it is you are saying in all but, I think that people are not in love with there mates because of the date they were born but, it does has all to do with the way a person is, if that is the case my husband and I should not be together, our birthdays are so close to each other, we are a year apart only five days apart, he was born Jan 09Th and I was born Jan 14Th, and yes I am the one born an year before, so that makes me the oldest.................................

Horoscopes work if you want them to work. Their purpose is primarily a psychological one; a role made easier to do through the mapping of physical phenomenon to literary ideas. Obviously the stars have no real meaning in themselves, but the idea of giving advice on the basis of their position isn't entirely ridiculous; it can come up with things that would not jump readily to mind and give you a new, impersonal perspective from time to time.

Aww come on now. Horoscopes are only a guide not the gospel. You take what works for you and move on with life, its yours to live. Don't down others for believing or following them. If you don't believe in them fine, leave those of us that use sense with it alone ok.

I know someone who used to write horoscopes for a newspaper and she blatantly told me she made them up- that's standard practice apparently, especially in the anonymous ones (not fronted by an astrologer).

If someone's plucking predictions out of the air then it's unlikely they're going to come true- although people make of them want they want anyway.
