Interested in going to Latin America to teach or help in a nonprofit organization. I'm a recent college graduate and would like to know what other programs offer this opportunity. Thank you in advance! =)

The Peace Corps is a big commitment, but you do get money to help you back into society and offers a lot of help with loans etc you might have! If you do internet searches a lot come up, but I am always wary of their legitimancy.

I went to the Dominican Republic through Orphanage Outreach. They have started a fabulous English Program there. Interns live on the grounds of an Orphanage but are seperate from the children. We worked with the orphans with tutoring, but during the week we would teach (often the orphans would be in the schools). Activity nights with the orphans would take place like game night or movie night. The sleeping accomodations are a tin roof and chain link fence with a tarp on it. It isn't as bad as it sounds! This area is absolutely wonderful and friendly. To go there long term (4+ months) it costs $1000 a month. Orphanage Outreach is not affiliated with any religion, but the Orphanage is very conservative. They expect good behavior (no drinking, dancing, PDA... even in the town) from all volunteers or they may be asekd to leave. It is an absoultely wonderful and beautiful country, and I highly reccomend this program if the Dominican Republic sparks your interest. Most likely you would be helping teach English if you interned there. :-) Best of luck.

There is a book and it is called How To Live Your Dream Of Volenteering Overseas, and it tells you about sooooo many non-prophit organizations that go all around the world. It says what the cost would be, how many people usually go a year, the average age group and a lot more about a whole bunch of volenteer organizations.

More people should be like you and interested in volenteering. Thank you for caring.

There's a program called Wold Teach, it's pretty cool, plus you become a certified educator during the program. Check it out :)
