Nobody has officially announced their candidacy. Obama said he might run but is thinking about it and Clinton is being coy on this question. JFK announced his run for president in January 1960 after new year's. I think we can expect the same from the candidates in 2008.

i heard hilary clinton WANTS to run. or WANTED to. i heard the california GOVERNATOR wanted to try to run for presidency even though he has a slight disadvantage (not being born in US). but i heard he said he wanted to change that and be the first outsider pres. i think he said he wanted to run in 2008.

I honestly don't know of anyone that has actually stated they intend to RUN for president... many people are talking about how they are CONSIDERING a run - which is pretty much like saying they plan to run as long as they think they'll be able to win.

As for a deadline - I'm not really sure. They'd definately need to announce their candidacy before their party's primaries for sure - and if they want to have a chance at winning the nomination they'd have to do it early enough to be involved in their party's debates (these are usually a few months before the first primary elections).....
