Not a pain killer, it is an anti inflamatory drug mostly used for arthritis patients.

celebrex was engineered to attack and shrink the precursors of arthritis. in other words to work exclusively on pain caused by arthritis. it worked in limited use. once the body adapted to it, it no longer relieved the pain...but it did eat the stomach lining and cause internal bleeding. it was taken off the market and the center of a class action suite. whatever they brought back on the market under that name and whatever the medical reps are pushing on the drs to perscripe it for...i wouldn't take it..

It is a COX-2 inhibitor for pain relief or management of pain -- but it may not be very safe. I read that here:
