My experience growing up is that a feeling of democracy is fostered in many environments. "Speak up and let your voice be heard."

Then you get into the workplace and realize that no matter how vehemently you disagree with the boss and know down to your core that what s/he is saying is wrong, it doesn't matter. It's not a democracy.

Anyone ever been slapped with that reality?

I have been fired so many times for just standing up to the boss when you turn around to say right guys , their gone , the last good job I had the boss would let me have my say then ask if i was done then ask if i was ready to go back to work good guy. but hes gone now,i drive by his grave. someday I'll stop and rant a little for old times. good luck kiddo its just a job lol

If you are under some delusion that any employer is running a democracy, you need to go somewhere and invest in a generous helping of reality. Commercial enterprises hire people to do specific jobs and the owner/boss very seldom, if ever, put what or how things are going do be done to a vote.
