No not really
If you really would like to learn about cookies check this site out its explains it in plain english. http://computer.howstuffworks.com/cookie.htm
I never did this but a friend was in a gaming room that used Internet Explorer(MSN GAMING ZONE). He used an exploit to get the cookies to download on his PC then he could go into there account by cloning the cookie. But this was a bug in Internet Explorer that has been patched now. But you see how it can be somewhat dangerous. Mabe not to your PC but to an account.

It's not the cookies, so much as it is what websites do with them. There is not a security risk though.
