My daughter is 10 months old and I was wondering when the best time to potty train her would be and what age. She is not really talking yet and she is almost crawling. I would also like to know what the average age is to potty train. Thank you.

In normal circumstances it is between 2 and 2 1/2 to 3 years, you will notice your daughter will recognise when she needs to go, she might grab herself or say something just before she pee's etc. As she gets older, let her watch when you go, tell her what you are doing so when it's her turn she'll have some kind of idea.

I would wait until she is at least two before potty training because it is difficult for the child to understand before this point. Some children start as early as 18 months, but these children tend to have siblings that they emulate and want to be like. If this is your first give it a whirl around two or so and be patient. Some children aren't ready that young and if you make it a negative experience and push her too much you may even prolpong or extend the process. Oh and by the way getting a child to urinate in the toilet is much easier than getting her to make a bowel movement. Another tip is to use a reinforcer, like candy, or big girl underwear and nice clothes to help with the process.

It not only depends on the child's age, but also thier maturity level. She's not ready yet. I would say wait until about 2 or 2 and 1/2. That's the typical age for most kids, reguardless of gender. It is important they understand why they have to go and when the right time to go is. I wouldn't worry too much right now. You still have another year or two with diapers. Good Luck!

Most girls are ready by 18 months. I personally was trained at 13 months, and my daughter was at 19 months. This is day AND night training. I found a great ebook online about knowing the signs of readiness, and a simple method that if used properly will have your child trained for day and night in 3 days or less. I would be willing to forward you a copy of it. I think its really great and has worked for my daughter and several of my friends children. email me at starsalso@yahoo.com

children, especially girls, will let you know when they are ready. i wouldnt start her if she is still under a year. wait till she is talking and can start to understand what the potty is.

She will let you know when its time...girls usually learn faster than boys...wait till she's at least walking.
