Well, I don't mean to lecture but you probably shouldn't have brought it home, only because wild caught animals don't often make it in captivity. It MAY even be illegal. Call your local pet store and ask them how to cycle a salt water tank, what you'll need to maintain it etc... They'll know the proper balance. Starfish eat meat, like clams and oysters but I wouldn't throw in a can of smoked clams or anything. Best bet is to call the experts.

You take care of it by putting it back where it belongs and then leave it along. Why on earth would you even pick it up when you have no ideal what you are doing? You are going to kill it. Do you have any ideal what you even did when you pick up the starfish and took it out of it's natural element. Think about what you did. How can people be so stupid to remove wildlife from there homes where they have no clue how to take care of them.

You need enough water to cover it in a pot. Bring to boil and feed it 1/2 lb of butter. Cook for 20 minutes and let it air dry. Enjoy

Depends on what species it is. Some aren't even adaptable to captivity. Put it back it WILL die.
