My 2 week old grunts and cries when he has a bowel or passes gas. His bowels are just like they should be (yellow and seedy) and aren't hard (quite runny). So is this normal, or should I call my pediatrician?

Many infants react this way to a BM as it is uncomfortable process even for many adults.
It is best to have the baby examined by the doctor just to be on the safe side.

He's learning to poop for the first time. It's probably kind of scary for him and he is grunting because he is pushing and trying to expedite the process. As long as the stool looks normal, I wouldn't worry about it. If he has a temperature and the color of the stool changes or decreases in frequency, take him in immediately.

Babies just have to learn how to poop. They do alot of things in the womb sucking, blinking, swallowing. Pooping is one thing they do not. As long as the poop is normal and not hard and marble like you are ok. Congrats on your baby!!!
