Initally the father thanked Madonna for taking his son, who by the way had been in an orphanage for over a year. Now he wants his son back. Doesn't this sound fishy? He is illiterate not deaf or dumb. It was explained to him in his language so why has he changed his mind? Is it because someone has offered him money and David has become his 'meal ticket'? Or had he really had a change of heart all of a sudden?

1. Read the article. She gave Oprah an interview.
2. She is in earnest about helping this poor child, with AIDS, who has already lost his mother and siblings to AIDS.
3. The Father had him placed in an orphanage and agreed that Madonna could help him. But I think, unaccustomed to how cruel & spinning the media is, he broke under pressure & is confused.
4. Madonna has been contributing time, money and energy for ages in the fight on AIDS, helping the needy, etc. The list is long.
5. She has her professional personna, but her private life actions speaks for itself. She's not winding 'pop star' out of control and spending all her money on addictions, she's in a position to do something and is.
6. Facts are that she's famous, so she'll always have to drag that heavy anchor around — the press. They won't leave her boat float freely.

From what I understand, no one explained to the father that adoption meant that his son wouldn't be coming back when he was a little older. He was under the impression that Madonna would raise his son for a few years and then David would be coming home.
This is really a tough call because the boy would (financially speaking) be better off with Madonna, but his father obviously loves David and only wants whats best, but doesn't want to completely give up his rights as a father. She has enough money, why not just adopt the whole blasted family and then it's a win-win situation for all?

If I were Madonna, I'd keep David, he will have a much better life with her and her family. The father of David has been hounded by the media and that's why his music has changed to a different tune. He should let his son go to a better place.

~David will be shown a life of luxury, a life he would have never known existed. He will grow up healthy and educated. If his father really wanted him back why was he in an orphanage, and they actually had to locate him so that Madonna could adopt him.~

What is the "right thing?" Madonna puts her money where her mouth is. I don't like her as an entertainer, but, I applaud her for adopting. The child will be well-eductated in England and America. When he is older he can visit his homeland, and one day he may get to see his father. Good for her.

David should be with his family. You pull a poor, black child out of their homeland and stick them with a rich white family - is this reality or a sitcom? If celebritys really want to help people, the foundation is a wonderful way, you don't have to snatch a little one out of his country and transplant him to prove the point that you can do good in this world. And I think, if the world weren't watching a celebrities' every move, Madonna would have been satisfied with what her foundation is doing for people. Since we ARE watching her every move, wouldn't it look even better to bring one home with her. Celebrities don't worry about the committment of raising a child, they have their nannies and spouses and housekeepers and chauffers and private schools to keep their committment FOR them. The little boy will have a better life in one of the richest countries in the world. Is that what he really wants, or does he want his Daddy?

Madonna did nothing wrong.She adopted a child from the poorest continent in the world,plus she donated 4 million dollars to Malawi.Her adoption will bless her family and give David opportunities kids can only dream of.Her donations will help over 4000 kids attend school.She is a humanitarian.

I don't think Madonna has any clue what is good for this country, but I do think she can provide what is good for this child. I can't see his dad really wanting him when he was already in an orphanage.
