Psychiatrist point to your behavior as projecting; lacking in the confidence of yourself. It may have to do with you being inflicted with institutional racism, in a world that rejects you. Always never knowing where you fit in, mostly by Whites!

Not all light skinned people are mulatto my sister is very light and our parents are both black and i am the one who usually sticks up for her. But i think you mean people like Halley Berry who refer to her self as a black woman it is because that's what white America sees them as. I remember reading and interview Halley did and she said that her mother taught her she was a black woman because that is how the world will see her.

the tendency to favor light-skinned blacks started in slavery times.
darker people were assigned to harder, outside work. lighter-skinned slaves were used for easier work in the house.
white people actually started this issue and it has persisted.
remember, the lighter-skinned slaves were often fathered by the slave-owners. (through what i would call rape because the women had no ability to refuse). the slave-owners may have tended to favor their own children/grandchildren and relatives eventhough they were slaves. I guess the point is that lighter-skinned blacks also have a closer genetic/social relationship with whites (usually more closely related to them).
and whites have the power in our society. it's not surprising that "mulatto" people tend to be in leadership positons. based on past discrimination.

you dont HAVE to step up for anyone and if you are going to is shouldnt be because they are the same race as you it should be because you agree with what they are saying/arguing about.
standing up for someone you dont agree with just because you are the same race is just stupid.

b/c they appeal to all. That's probably why Marcus Garvey had such a hard time of it. BTW let's not act like they always have our back.
