Buy one of those machines that you sit on and you crank it so it opens your legs stretching your muscles. You can find them in martial arts magazines and sites. Here is only one of many sites:

Try ebay once you find what you want.

Work on it everyday, maybe a couple times a day do the splits, but don't go down too far so you don't hurt yourself, but I honestly doubt you can learn to do the splits in a week...it's taken me 12 yrs of dance to learn... (but I didn't do them all the time) but I still don't think it can be done it a week, but you can try, just don't stretch your muscles too far or you'll end up sore, just a little bit at a time.

You can also, as I agree with the others, have a friend lift one leg as you stand with your back against a wall, and slowly lift your leg until you feel you are at a safe position. You should never feel pain. Have your friend hold you there and relax. Give yourself time (one or two minutes) then see if she can lift a little higher. Then rest and try again later. don't overdo it. Maybe twice a day. There is no other way to do this without injury. Good luck.

My daughter has danced since she was 3 and is now 16. This is the technique the teachers taught them to do the splits.. find a wall where there is no furniture... lay on your back facing the wall... put your legs up on the wall and push your bum right up to the wall. slowly... start spreading your legs on the wall, bringing them towards the floor... use your hands to slowly push your legs closer to the floor. do this exercise several times a day and you'll see how easy and quickly you'll be able to touch the floor with your feet... Good luck!!

The splits is not a technique you can learn, it is suppleness you have to work at. You can only stretch intensively (but carefully). It takes weeks. There really is no instant way of dong the splits (except if you want to injure yourself). Take it easy!

well you can do what we use to in cheerleading w/the ones who couldn't do them. you and friend, you sit up against a wall, spread out your legs and have your friend (sit in front of you) put their feet on your calf area and start pushing your legs outwards towards the wall you are leaning against. this will hurt but you need to pop your legs. or you can just keep stretching.

stretching is the only way and depending on how naturally flexible you are you MIGHT be able to do it....but i really doubt it AND you WOULD be hurting yourself.
Start working at it everyday or so and give yourself a more realistic goal
