Have a talk with your parents and let them know exactly that. Tell them all the good points of you having a job and then maybe they'll be a little more open to the idea.

My parents use to do the same thing. But there is something you can do change them. Act really nice and do anything they ask. If you agree with your parents they will wonder . Tell them one day that you are thankful for everything you have and thanks for all the discipline they have given you. Tell them the discipline has shaped you into the person you are today and if you didn't have them as parents you don't know where you would be. When you ask for money and they say "no" say "okay, I understand". I am assuming that when you asked for money times before you probably said "why not, then let me just get a JOB". If you don't say this again then just say "okay I understand they will be wondering. They will think wow she isn't saying anything else. I think this works. Don't mention a job again because that doesn't seem to work. And if the stuff I just told you doesn't work well..........then ask them if you can do chores........or babysit for family and close friends. Hope this works

Lots of reasons. When was the last time you asked for money? Yesterday? 5 minutes before the current request? Get the picture. OR it could be thurs before payday and they havent' any to give you. They feel bad so the emotion comes out looking like they are mad. The reason for not letting you get a job is you may be too young and they are worried about you getting to and from work safely. I'm sure saftey for you is their absolute biggest concern. After all I'm sure they feel you are the most precious thing in the world to them...(Really!!!)

Maybe cause they want you to focus on your grades in school first. That's what my parents wanted me to do before I got a job. It also depends on how old you are. If they are driving you around they may not want to give you money. If you have a car on your own and no job, then ask for some chores to do around in the yard or in the house so you can get an allowance to help pay for gas or clothes or whatever. Just let them know that you would like to work, but if they don't want you working elsewhere try and ask if you can do things around the house or maybe even babysit! Good luck! Millie

When you ask for money it comes from them to you, when you work the money is expected from you to them, not all but the going rate. Now if you ask for money in a tin can in a corner of a street traffic light you'll get both things money and a job. Get two birds with the same shot. Give it a try those people make good money and don't have to pay taxes. One thing don't urinate on the streets, it's against the law, go to the bank where you going to deposit your earnings. I always wanted to do that, it's never too late if the desire its there.

I never had that problem.

Probably because I always earned some cash from babysitting, so I always bought stuff I needed. I was one of 4 kids, so there wasn't much $ to go around.

And if you are 16 or older, jobs are around that should be ok with your parents - provided that the environment is safe, wages good, and you aren't worked real hard or it interfers with your schooling. Maybe they don't feel you are responsible enough? Looks like you may need to convince them that you are capable and reliable and mature enough to handle earning your own money...

Because there are a million little things you could be doing to help around the house to earn some money, and if you're not driving yet, it takes a lot of commitment on the part of the parent to keep taking your butt to work.

Maybe it's because that you picked the wrong time to ask and they were having a bad day.

Children are too irresponsible when it comes to money. For example, they wind up using the money to buy the things they WANT (i.e. games, PS4, Xbox One, music, etc.) instead of the things they NEED (i.e. school supplies, clothing, bookbags, etc.).

You probably whine too much and ask for money for stuff you don't need.
