without a doubt, who carried the team during all the injuries? who is a true leader every day with the bat and glove? who excells in the most difficult place to play in the bigs? overated playing in ny? get off the crack pipe and realize in ny you cant be overated, they wont let you.. a bad game or a bad streak and your face is planted on the back of the ny post or daily news and you have to face 8 million people.. you have to perform or your done..you just cant be forgotten in ny like kc or boston during a bad streak..look a arod with his stats he is treated like dirt where as in any other small market they would love you to death..he excells in the sports biggest stage and he always had.. and always will...tejeda is a dirt bag who whines all the time and is always requesting trades..his teamates hate him and he is a loser.. its time we put the valuable back in mvp.. oh did i forget he hit .380 with runners in scoring position... best in the majors... 97 rbis batting second?? .343? anybody who wouldnt want him as mvp just has the typical anti yankee virus that is sweeping america and its all based on jealousy thats all deep jealousy.. like georgie porgie and that idiot nugster.. if you like hrs so much how many would he hit in boston? 35? left field in yankee stadium is death valley and hurts any power numbers from righthanded hitters..i know mantle, ruth, dimaggio, gehrig, all overated players because they play in new york... failures are highlited in newyork, while forgotten everywhere else.. greatness is rewarded in ny but true baseball people will reward true greatness anywhere else..fat ole david ortiz wouldnt handle newyork, neither would young, tejeda, or any other small market player... ive seen many good players turn to mush after they came to town...jeter has always handled himself with class and style no matter what the situation and we are proud to call him mr baseball, cause he is... hey matt if you are scared to ask a girl out then you shouldnt be calling the yankees jerks,, try following a real man like derek jeter.. and grow a couple will ya...

Jeter sparks a lineup. Ortiz is a no doubter not MVP, cuz his team was like 10 back and an MVP should carry a eam not have it be 10 games out of first. Morneau is putting up great numbers, but i snot clutch either. Mauer cannot win just because of his average and Jeter is the only candidate who does not have monster number. He is a consistant threat, doing all the little things that needs to be done o help the team win. He bunts people over, gets a hit when they need one, make a great defensive play, and mainly lead the team to victory. He does not focus on numbers, he wants to WIN!

Jeter put up great numbers this year; however he is not MVP worthy. He is overated because he plays in NYC.

Stats:

.343 AVG 14HR 97RBI 34SB .417OBP and a .483 SLG

Look at other shortstops and compare. Jose Reyes, Jimmy Rollins, Michael Young etc. They are not considered for an MVP award.

Jeter had good numbers, though there are better choices out there such as David Ortiz, Frank Thomas and Jermaine Dye.

Jeter became actual ripped off in 1999, merely as he became in 2006. the guy hit .349, 24 homers, 102 RBI, and performed an astonishing shortstop then. The Yankees had an astonishing team then, yet Jeter became fairly the guy who set them aside, and carried them for the 1st couple of months whilst they struggled offensively. there is not any way that Ivan Rodriguez became greater effective than Jeter, and he additionally performed in a park that became made for hitters. The area that I hate the main is that Jeter finished 2d interior the A.L. batting race to a undeniable muscle-certain shortstop from Boston, who for some reason, has not at all been suggested for taking overall performance-improving drugs, and whose physique has almost completely broken down on him. yet he performed for Boston, so Nomar wasn't suggested interior the Mitchell checklist.

He probably will because of the marketing but Morneau earned it this year. Don't get me wrong Ortiz did a great job but he only played one side and the rules to voting state that the player has to be the best at offense, defense, and in the community. Ortiz did two of the three but he does not play defense.

No I think that he is a very good canidate for the MVP award but i think that Justin Morneau should beat him out by a hair.
