They say you should not stay in a 95 db environment for more than 10 minutes to avoid permanent ear damage, and you should take a break for 5 minutes if you do decide to stay. Is that just to lower your exposure time or do breaks actually let your ear thingies(forgot name) recuperate after "damage accumulation"? Like do they get worse and worse during the 10 min of 95 db and heal without permanent damage after the 5 minute break, and they are ready for another 10 min of 95 db without any permanent damage?

Your ear-drum is a sensitive and precious organ. Once you damage it, there is no cure at the moment, short of bypassing your ear-drum and hooking up a sound device to your nerves, so it is best to look after your hearing to make it last your lifetime, or you will end up deaf soon.

The exposure level and time is probably to allow your ear-drum to try to recover a bit. Do note that if damaged, there is no reversible cure at the moment. So if you plan to take the break and think it is ok, then you probably are mistaken. Prolonged exposure will just render your ear-drums to permanent damage only.

Best is ti avoid loud places, and if you must, wear mufflers or ear-plugs.
