Yes. My husband and I lost a very dear friend to suicide 7 years ago. As you would expect, it was the very last person we expected to do such a thing. It was gut wrenchingly painful and, since we were both close to the person, we couldn't really even comfort each very well.
Four months later I would attempt my own suicide, due in large part to unresolved feelings and issues relating to our friend's death, my mother's lunacy and my own feelings of inadequacy. The good news is I wasn't successful and, ultimately, I would receive the help that I should have sought sooner.
I still miss my friend...but I'm not ready to join him any time soon.
Now, are you asking because someone you love has taken their own life? If this is the case, then I'm so very sorry. That said, you need to grab ahold of anything you can...faith...mental health counselors...dear friends and family...a puppy...whatever it takes. There are grief therapy groups out there specifically for people who've lost loved ones to suicide (I didn't recognize myself in their message, of course). Do something to deal with the pain, anger and grief that are sure to envelope you, if they haven't already.
I'm rooting for you.

Yes. It took therapy & medication for a time before I was able to deal without it. Time faded the worst of the pain, but the memories remain, both good & bad now, so hidden scars remain.
You deal with it one day at a time & when that's too much, you deal with it from one minute to the next, one breath to the next & you don't look further than that next breath. Eventually those chunks of time become longer & you find yourself dealing with the loss while moving forward with your own life.
You'll never forget, but the pain does fade to tolerable levels. Once in awhile though, they'll tear free and jump all over you when you least expect it. A scent, sight, or sound, will bring it all back to you in a rush....& that's when you use the techniques & tools that therapy taught you to handle the influx again.

Yes.
you don't 'Deal with It'. you never forget or get over it.
It is the most selfish and mean action you can do to others.
Unless you are so immobilized by disease, pain, plus insanity, that you would actually be better off dead, and three doctors agreed, then it is a terrible and selfish act.
It is the most severe form of self-criticism.
OK?

Not in my family. We were brought up (and I still hold to it) to believe that suicide is a cowards way out of life. Deal with it? Makes me sick just to think about it.
