i asked a girl to come over and sign lease papers for house we will share, called her back and told her i did not have papers yet.
now i get some other interested person that i think i will like more, she would fit me better.
how do i tell the other that i wont lease it to her anymore, she never signed any papers, i just said to come over that one night and do the paper work which we never did.
can i get sued by her, even though we never signed any papers??

It depends on the laws in your State. You did make a verbal agreement and that doesn't always hold up to a legal commitment. Does she have any other proof than her word against yours? It may not have been legally binding, but that doesn't mean she won't pursue it since it is shallow on your part to be such a fickle person.

Call her and say: Let's strike this agreement: You left me clueless as to rent or not rent. You never showed up so at this time I take it as you are not interested due to never signing papers. I am interviewing a very interested more compatiable individual and wish you the best. Thank you You could even leave this message on her answer machine! Give her a time period to call back and make it short...

The nice thing would be to tell her the truth, especially so she can look for another place.
