quote for tv licencing website

Do I need a licence?

If you use a TV or any other device to receive or record TV programmes (for example, a VCR, set-top box, DVD recorder or PC with a broadcast card) - you need a TV Licence. You are required by law to have one.

In spite of the BBCs detection vans running around the method they use to catch people without a license is to visit homes that have not bought one and demand to see it, if it's not produced they get a warrant to search the house.
If the viewing is on your computer there is no way they could know that as the signal is through a provider down a phone line, not the actual line but a separate broadband line.
Don't worry, watch what you want.

Yes.
When you buy any machine capable of receiving a TV signal your details are passed on (by virtue of the Telegraphy Act) to the TV Licencing people.
May be you don't think it's fair but there you are.
Until you are 75. Then it's free.

Anyone can get away without paying a tv license. The van that comes round and detevts whether you are watching TV or not is a scam. I knew a bloke that had that job and said that it was empty of all equipment in the back.
just dont let them in when they knock on you're door. I've been watching TV for 15 years without one and I've been confronted on my doorstep half a dozen times now and just say that I dont use my 32 incnh HD ready TV.
