Almost every job in the world uses the metric system, except for the United States of America, which is one of the very few countries that still uses the old Imperial system. Even in the US, scientists work with the metric system.

any job in the sciences, engineering, nurses, doctors, also if you get a job that requires to leave the US you need to know the metric system. Maybe not for your work but it is nice to know how far 10 kilometers really is, or how much is a kilo of tomatoes, or is 15 Celsius warm or cold
