I know what you mean by asking this Q and I was wondering myself. He is 100 % not good for Iraq or any other country but we may ask this: Was he the only bad leader in the world? the things got worse in Iraq and it seems Bush can not control it at all . They made a mess there and Now they can not control it . Is it fair to the people of Iraq? Are they more happy now than they were before when Saddam was in charge? I am so confused and I really do feel sorry for those people.

No, despite what you hear EVERYDAY from the mainstream media, things are FAR BETTER IN IRAQ THEN EVER BEFORE.

My cousin is a Colonel in the Marine Corps there and he write back to tell us these FACTS:

More electricity is being produced than ever before, most of the city of Baghdad would go through rolling blackouts because most of the power would be routed through to Saddam palace and his cronies homes.

We have rebuilt all of the OIL PRODUCTION supplies and they are now producing more oil than EVER BEFORE! (By the way, we DO NOT SEE ANY RESIDUAL EFFECTS OF THIS)

They unemployment rate there is at an all-time low. Wages have also increased 5x what they had pre-Saddam

Turn off your TV, put down the newspaper & do your own research, write to a soldier and ask him how things are. Become informed before spewing forth all the BS you here from most people.

Before he was thrown out of power he had a pretty firm grip on his people - but now that he's been deposed I don't think he could restore the kind of "security" that existed before the war. He depended on the citizens of Iraq fearing him to keep them under control - I don't think that they fear Saddam any more, so I doubt he could keep the country peacefull.

He'll get what he deserves when he's put to death... but executions are wrong - and he SHOULD be thrown in prison for the rest of his life. I still feel no pity for the guy....

Saddam was dangerous for even himself. He is the only ruler that I ever saw firing a rifle above the heads of his people. Where do you think his improperly fired bullets ended up? The world is better off without him; even though, the reasons to remove him to power were made by tyrants that the world never needed in the first place.

Of course not. I liken him to Hitler. Same intelligent insanity, same calculating deviance.
No, he could not sort things out, unless the extermination of another few hundred thousand could be considered sorting things out.
And as for the last, I don't know. All I know is, Hussein never declared war against his own people, but he was at war with them just the same.
People should be able to trust their government NOT to kill hundreds of thousands of their own citizens. The Iraqis could not trust Hussein with that.
Besides, twelve million voted in the election. I think they would disagree with the idea of Hussein being reinstated.

i think it's obvious why he ruled with an iron fist . brutality is understood in Iraq . I believe , given the time and tools he could solve the problems . after all we did supply him with the weapons and intelligence to back the iranians off in the late 70's and early 80's. he'd probably be greatful to be free from prison too .

Saddam shouldn't be put back into power because he WAS a vicious dictator who killed people out of hate of religion.Thing were in more control when he was in power because he was feared, and what our government doesn't want is a country in which the people are in fear of expressing their humane rights.
