Yeah, it all depends on what your criteria is, as to know which is the better bike.
For speed, handling and styling, the R6 will win every single time.
For comfort, reliability, and price, the CBR will win every time.
Both are very good examples of a good 600 sports bike, however one is an out and out sports bike, the other is almost a sports tourer.
The R6 is pretty much just a road legal race bike, straight out of the factory, its one of the fastest 600's out there. It will cost you more, and won't be as forgiving as the CBR. You will have more fun riding it too, but not as much picking it back up after you drop it.
The CBR is probably the best new rider 600 sports out there. It will accelerate plenty fast, and stick to the roads going round corners, but will also serve you well as a commuting bike, as the seating position isn't so low (the RR versions will be low however) so your back will love you if you are going for a long ride. They are cheap as chips to buy, insure, run and maintain, and well looked after, they will look after you too.
Again, without knowing more about your criteria, I can't say which one would be the better bike for you, but i've owned both, and i still ride an R6 from time to time.
Ignore Jack-n-coke, he's lying his @ss off, read his post about "wanting to know how to get sponsorship for dirt bike racing" and the zx-9r aint the best bike you can get, there are FAR better bike out there than it, just like the GSX-R 1000, or the Bimota SB6.

I have a CBR600 F4i and compared to the R6 it all depends on your riding style. If you are looking for something more comfortable, less agressive and more forgiving the CBR would be better. The R6 is mean to be driven fast and hard.

Honda is easier and more comfortable to ride. The R6 takes more effort but is racier and will probably get you more respect.

it depends on the years of the bikes, both are great bikes. if the cbr in question is not an"RR" model, its the better street bike because its more comfortable. if its the "RR" vs. the r6 it's a toss up.

If you're a newbie, neither one.
If you've been riding for a few years, it depends on what's more suited to your riding style.
