I am sending a letter to my friend for her birthday but I am going off a return adress she put on the back of the letter she sent to me. I live in Canada, and I am wondering, did she forget to give me a postal code or is there in fact not one for New Zealand? I want the letter to be kind of a surprise so I dont want to ask her! Hoping you could help...

Hi

Yes New Zealand has postal codes and has done for some time. However, they have not been used to any great extent. Recently, the post office overhauled the whole system and introduced a far more comprehensive set of postal codes. They are actively encouraging their usage so that they can make the whole delivery system more efficient. Don't worry about not putting a postal code on your card/letter. As long as the address is accurate it will be delivered without the code. There is a website where you can get the correct code if you really want it. It is:
