I am 34 wks pregnant with my 2nd baby, and have been having pretty strong and regular Braxton-Hicks contractions off and on since about 31 wks. The last couple of days I have been having sharp pains in my cervix - it feels like a bad pap smear. The pains never happen with a contraction, but more likely when I am walking around or right after I get up from sitting.
My question is - has anyone else experienced this? What was it? I am wondering if it's the baby kicking my cervix, or if it's something I need to worry about. I have already been monitored for early labor contractions and had my cervix checked (3 weeks ago) and everything was fine.
I am going to talk to my dr about this at my appointment next week, but I'd like some educated opinions in the meantime! Thanks!

Firstly congratulations,
I had similar pains for a few weeks before the birth of my daughter, at about the same time as you are now, I was told it was the baby kicking my cervix as she was breach until 36 weeks and born 6 days later. Speaking to your doctor is the best as they can see you and feel where the baby is, and they may check your cervix a few times between now and the birth to make sure the movement causing these pains aren't anything else apart from the baby, This is a good idea as you are already been watched for early labour, Good luck and best wishes

I am 36 weeks and I started to have that also its like a sharp pain in your cervix I asked me doctor about it last week and he checked me out and said my cervix was still closed and looked fine. so I assume that those pains are normal and if they only happen here and there than they are probably just your body getting ready for the big day. I am having my first baby so it is hard for me to give you any advise but defiantly see what your doc thinks I wish you luck and take care

The sharp pains in your cervix coupled with the preterm labor thats was stopped 3 weeks ago is call for concern. Just to be on the safe side you should go in. You could be dialating. Good luck with the baby.

I am 33 Weeks pregnant and have experience the same things since i was 30 weeks. It is just the uterus getting ready and softening your cervix for labor. What you are feeling is the tightening of the uterus.
"That tightening that you feel from time to time in your uterus may feel like real labor, but it is actually a Braxton Hicks contraction. These contractions happen when your brain sends messages to your body to prepare for labor. In response, your body contracts the muscles in your uterus to help get ready for your baby’s eventual arrival."

You might even experience a heavier flow of vaginal discharge.
To me that's what I think it might be but i am no doctor.

Your doctor will know for sure what it is you are feeling.

Feeling like someone stabbing you with a knife?? I had those my Dr said it was just my bodies way of getting ready to have the baby. The more pregnancies you have the more aches and pains you get!

I had this problem with my two youngest kids. My mom said it was likely that the baby had shifted into a position that was literally getting on my nerves.
