go to best buy and get a skip doctor. they have a few different versions, i.e. cd docter & dvd doctor, but they all do the same thing. they also come in manual and power. i suggest the power one. you have to crank the manual one quite a few times for each cd/dvd. it goes pretty slow and you have to do the process twice for each cd/dvd, once forwards and once in reverse. but they work excellent. they brought some of my worst scratched cd's back to life. after you fix all of you scratches go grab some, i forget what they're called, but they cover the cd so that they will never get scratched. instead the cover gets scratched and when it does you just replace it. they work in car stereos and everything. but i guess if you have the skip doctor you won't need these...

If you can't buff it out, I've also heard that applying a clear coat (think like spray paint protective finish) helps.

It won't remove the scratch, but it will help fill it in, and make it less noticable.

one of the many draw backs of plexi or lexan over glass is the tendancy for plastics to scratch rather easily, as well as yellow and fade. if the scratch is of a significant depth, you will not remove it. if at all possible, can the plexi be replaced with glass? if it can, that's how i would go. remember, glass can be tempered, safety, or quarter inch plate. depends on the application.
