I just got my MCAT results. They're not very good. But I found out yesterday that everyone in my area did not do very good either. My GPA isn't all that great, 3.0, something happened. Right after taking my MCAT the University of Chicago sent me their supplemental application. Now I'm juggling in my head whether I should or shouldn't submit the applicatiion. If I don't it goes on their record that I withdrew which will come back to haunt me later. If I do they'll want to see more the next time I apply. Should I submit my application? The advisor at my college told me that U. Chicago happens to be more interested in students from my college.

If I do submit they'll want a reason why they should consider me this time and what's different this time then last time.

Submit the secondary. But beware, most schools give secondaries to EVERYBODY because it's an easy way to make money. GWU sent me a secondary before I had even completed my AMCAS app!

As for U of Chicago, be careful. They rejected me last year. I had a 3.0 GPA (from UC Berkeley) but a 32 on the MCAT plus graduate degree, full-time job and extracurriculars.

I'm going to be forfeiting my applications due on Nov 1. With my job and the rest of my life, it's hard for me to finish all these apps.

I would suggest you do not complete any more secondaries, the secondaries are not about interest, but instead about $$. If its a school you think you might get into considering your stats then I would fill out your secondary but with caution.

I don't know if you're considering this or not, but a post bac program like at Drexel, Georgetown, or Boston Univ (those are the big ones I know, you may know some more) might be a good idea. You take the med sch classes and it helps prove you would be able to do it, along with being challenged to think at a higher level that will help you do a lot better on the MCAT. It would really help boost your application- if you did well at the program. Just something to consider, you have to determine what's best for you.

You can apply to some of the local less selective schools in Chicago: UIC, Loyola, DePaul, Rush, Northwestern the least selective is Rosalind Franklin or apply to the DO program at Midwestern in Downers Grove.
To be honest, it will be very hard to get into med school with only a 3.0 GPA.
