Well, dogs and cats are both house pets so it's rational to compare them.
Let's compare on different levels, shall we?
1.Cleanliness -Unlike cats, dogs need to be washed regularly to keep them smelling nice .But washing once a week can be done over the weekend.AND dogs don't leave so much hair all over the furniture and make you sneeze.
2.Friendliness-Dogs beat cats hands down when it comes to love..it's not stupid to love - it's the highest knowledge that anyone can get - loving unconditionally even though they see your faults as clearly as cats do.Cats can love too,I know but I've never heard of a cat dying to save someone ;something dogs do often.
3.Usefulness- Cats get rid of mice and pests, it's true..but cleaning up those half-bitten "offerings" they drop at your feet can be quite horrible.Dogs however, can be trained to help at home and in almost every type of profession, like Sharky said -truly man's best friend.
4.Maintenance - Dogs do need space to excercise and if you live in a small place, you're going to have to find time to walk your dog everyday. You also can't have a dog that will be left cooped up all day while you work...so yes, dogs are high-maintenance pets. But they are worth it.
So in the end I have to vote dogs..

Ooooh for all the doghater let me have a word with them (pulls up her sleeves).... bring it on!
Okay so dogs are just nicer and loyal animals...its really obvious isn’t it...do you ever seen homeless people with cats, do you ever find people with disability uses help cats!!...hell no they’re always doggys by there side when they’re familys or humans aren’t.. ... cats usually move on to whoever that’s feeding them and always purr they’re way out of things...you don’t see dogs doing that they stay loyal to they’re owner even after they die...they’ll sit waiting for them to come back for the longest times.. I’ve had both cats and dogs.. and I so prefer dogs just cause they’re so selfless ...they love you like sharky said no matter what !!...through thick and thin....good and bad....the way most people don’t love each other....and that’s something to admired...!! .....well there is so much to say but I ought to be feeding my pup now......!! and he wouldn’t love me any less even if I didn’t.....i cant say the same about cats :)

Let's face it...dogs don't KNOW they're doing any of that stuff, they just know they'll get fed if they do what they're told. Dogs don't LOVE humans at all - we just fool ourselves into thinking that behaviour patterns are based on canine affection so we can believe we're loved by something unequivocally. It's anthropomorphism of the most revolting kind - let me just pop a little bubble here: dogs are NOT members of your family, they are NOT your children folks, they're little sacs of needs covered in wasted fur. A cat you have to meet on its own terms - it's basically a wild animal that makes its species-separation perfectly clear: if it's not getting its needs met in your place, it'll go somewhere else. It's essentially a cockroach with whiskers, but at least it doesn't let you believe it's anything else. It's a cat, you take it or leave it, and it's not bothered which. Dogs are like fake orgasms with tails - they're not what you think they are, and if you need to believe in them, then you can't handle the truth(!)

I don't think she hates dogs. I just think she is more of a cat person.
Personally, I like both dogs and cats when they are nice and engaging animals. Yes a dog is more trainable and they DO work as service animals but a cat can be very sweet. I have three that come to the front door every night when I come in. And it isn't just for food. They are really happy to see me. I would love to have a dog someday though when I have the time to give it.
I vote for loving all creatures great and small. They are actually a darn sight more noble than a lot of people.

Cats are worthless fur balls that stink up the house. Whoever would put a litter box in their house to collect Chocolate Cheetos left by a cat that does absolutely nothing for you in return, needs to have their head checked.

My cat beats up my dog & is by far the guardian of the home & territory. He's known as the Watch Cat & we did have a break-in but they didn't get anything either. While the dog cowered under the couch, Shadow went to town with claws and teeth.
He chased the pair of burglers off, they never made it past the foyer, & they were caught because of not only being identified by neighbors, but the marks left on their bodies from Shadow's attack.

no longer authentic, my 2 cats used to stay with my roommates 2 canines. One canines skipped over the cats. the different canines performed with them and the cats performed back. certainly one of my cats might curl up top next to the canines while they took a nap.

OH MY GOD,WHY ARE YOU ASKING THIS?
YOU DO KNOW THE ANSWER:DOGS ARE MEN'S BEST FRIEND:EVEN WHEN YOU TREAT THEM LIKE ****:THEY LOVE YOU UNCONDITIONALLY.
AND MOST OF THE TIMES DO AS YOU SAY.:YOU ARE THE BOSS.
cats however have slaves and servants:all they care about is food and a place to pee(like ammonia)and poo(even worse.
So :is it difficult to choose ?
DOGS HELP IN MANY CASES AND GETS ONLY WANT HELP.

I can find many reasons to both love and hate both animals.
I struggle to have any preference. But I own a cat - so that gets my vote.

I like all animals (incl cats) but as far as I have seen no other animal is as interactive, loyal, and provides the level of companionship & love as a typical dog.
In the words of Will Rogers: "If heaven is a truly just place, there will be few people, and many dogs."
