Because if he ever declares victory and leaves Iraq - that means that the terrorists have won. Duh.

Watch and mark my words: He won't. I predict that he's going to leave our fine men and women over in Iraq and never pull out. Bush has made such a mess of the situation, the only thing he knows how to do is consistantly say everything's going fine, when reality is, everything is going to hell in a handbasket. He was quoted as saying "Even if the only people that support me are my wife and my dog, we'll stay the course in Iraq"

That should tell you right there, that this mess is going to be left for whoever comes into office after him.

Thanks for the laugh, Missourim43! I didn't know there was anyone out there still dumb enough to actually talk about "getting the job done".

What job, exactly would that be? Who exactly are we fighting? Al-Queda? The Sunni insurgents? The Shia death squads? All of the above? Shooting in every direction and hoping for the best is no longer considered a viable policy. Of course, some of us knew this from the start.

As for the "decider", I think he has decided. He's decided to slip the hell out of dodge as soon as his term is over and leave all of his messes for whichever poor sap gets elected next.

You really thing that the president decides? Wake up. You have CIA, NSA, rich families that make laws, companies that need to test new weapons on small countries like Iraq or Bosnia. You thing all these people will let a man decide what will happen in general?. Get real.
Your president is a puppet just like all the prime ministers in every country

I think it's the oil companies that will make the decision for him. You see, the President's oil exec buddies will continue drilling for oil in Iraq until the very last drop has been extracted from Iraqi soil. Then his decision will have already been made by that point to leave Iraq.

It's not a question of being able to decide, it's a matter of getting the job done. It's not done yet, adjustments in tactics are needed and when the job is done, THEN we will leave.

The Desert Welfare program won't allow it.

We have to keep our promises to our Spanish speaking and Arab-speaking constituents around the world.

Static wars are never won. You can't plan something absolutely when someone is attempting to make you fail.
