You have a new pet and hopefully, the guy on the ladder doesn't fall on you.
It's superstition, but remember - two negatives equal a positive. It's true in math and it's true in superstition. So bad luck (from the cat) + bad luck (from walking under the ladder) = good luck. If not good luck, then indifferent luck. So, pick up the cat and pet it (will lower blood pressure, unless you're allergic) and try not to tip the ladder over - it would suck for the guy on the ladder.

Both are supposed to be a sign of bad luck. The cat thing probably originated because black cats were supposed to be used as "familiars" by witches to somehow aid in the casting of spells. The ladder might only relate to the fact that to walk under it might be dangerous particularly if someone were above you working as you might bump the ladder or something (or someone) might drop on you.

You will wait until the black cat passes your way and you need to walk under the ladder safely not to fall on you making your moves very safely wasting your time.
Just the time maters and nothing more!!!!
Nothing about bad......... It's your time and destiny.

You're suppose to have bad luck. Duh.
Edit: Now you can spill some salt, break a mirror and back your mom's car into a tree. If you don't know that doing the first two will bring you bad luck, then it should at least be obvious the last one will.

It brings bad luck.In my country if you walk under a ladder they say you won't grow anymore and you will remain short.I don't think in such things cause I have a black cat home and she crosses my way everyday and nothing bad happens.

You might trip over the cat.
A bucket might fall off the ladder and hit your head.
